Our philosophy: "We like winning awards however we believe the most important award is what we learn". -HKCR We feel the following goals are important; We define winning as: We don’t have to be the best but we have to do our best. We must treat everyone equally and with respect. We need to "Heat it up" to be competitive but "keep it cool" and be gracious at the same time. We believe we must walk away from competitions feeling like champions even if we didn’t win awards, because we know we have already won. We have won because we learned about teamwork and problem solving. We set goals and strive to do our best to achieve them. We made friends and or stayed friends. We helped others in the process. And we had fun participating in the program and learning together.
The "I" in team.
In 2012 during one of our long discussions on Core Values. We had an epiphany. We realized that there really was an I in Team. The I stood for Individual Responsibility. Every team member (Individual TM) is important to making the team successful. For example team members should do their home work. They should come to practice and even come to practice on time. As a team we realized we had to work together to get things done in a timely manner. If each individual did not do their part, then other team members had to work twice as hard if they wanted to get things done. We also realized that Individuals could hold back the entire team by being distracting at practice or not doing their part. So we realized that the "I" (Individual) in team is important.
